Jemsek Specialty Clinic is closing for now
Dr. Joseph Jemsek, a prominent Lyme-treating physician in Washington D.C., is reportedly hospitalized with a serious illness. Patients of his clinic received notice this week that the facility is closing at least temporarily.
The Jemsek family issued the following statement:
Attention JSC patients,
We (the Jemsek family) have decided it is necessary to close our father’s practice, the Jemsek Specialty Clinic. Please rest assured however, that we are working behind the scenes with the providers to come up with a plan to potentially reopen the clinic under their ownership. The providers are dedicated to their patients and we feel confident they will be able to carry on Dr. Jemsek’s legacy.
The providers are continuing to offer health maintenance to help with this transition. This will include refilling prescriptions, monitoring labs, answering clinical concerns via triage, and supplying patients with their medical records. The clinic will continue to provide these services until 3/19/2024.
Please be advised, it is very likely there will be a time where the clinic is closed while undergoing this transition. We advise that you seek care in the interim with your primary care provider as needed.
Please stay tuned for directions on how you may begin to establish care with the new clinic.
Thank you,
The Jemsek Family
A second message from the family was sent to patients some time after the above message:
Attention JSC patients,
It has come to our attention that false information has been circulating regarding the status of Dr. Jemsek’s health. We assure you Dr. Jemsek and his family are currently addressing any and all medical concerns appropriately.
Any official updates related to Dr. Jemsek and the clinic will be coming only directly from the clinic. We ask that you respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.
Thank you,
The Jemsek Family and JSC provider team
Note: We will provide updates as they become available
