When chronic Lyme shapes a life and the music that comes from it

Artistry with Heart is a podcast devoted to the inner life of artists — the doubts, the breakthroughs, the healing, and the deeply human stories behind the music they make.
The latest episode explores how one musician’s inner life was shaped by chronic Lyme disease and the music that emerged from it.
It features singer‑songwriter Allison Sky, whose lifelong battle with unexplained symptoms began in early childhood.
Like so many in our community, she spent nearly two decades searching for answers before finally getting diagnosed with chronic Lyme at age 23. Her story reflects a familiar pattern: years of misdiagnosis, dismissal, and confusion, followed by the long climb toward understanding and recovery.
Allison describes her unconventional healing path, which gradually gave her her life back.
But what makes this episode especially compelling is how she frames her experience—not just as a medical journey, but as a creative one.
Music became her lifeline when her body and brain were at their lowest. Her upcoming EP Behind the Smile was shaped during some of her hardest seasons, including postpartum depression, brain fog, and the emotional toll of chronic illness.
