The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed the bipartisan Kay Hagan Tick Reauthorization Act (H.R. 4348) by voice vote.

The bill now heads to the Senate for a final vote.

The legislation reauthorizes vital federal programs targeting vector-borne diseases for five years:

Funding: Allocates $150 million over five years ($30 million annually) for continued Lyme disease and tick-borne illness research at the CDC.

National Strategy: Directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to maintain and update its comprehensive strategy to prevent and control vector-borne diseases.

Centers of Excellence: Sustains regional Centers of Excellence to drive research, disease surveillance, and outbreak response.

Public Health Capacity: Renews cooperative agreements and grants for state, local, and tribal health departments to expand prevention and strengthen diagnostic infrastructure.
