Campaign Story

Hi! My name is Katie & I am doing this campaign in honor of my mom. She has been fighting Lyme disease for over 1.5 years. It has not been fun…to put it lightly. The thing with Lyme is she looks perfectly healthy and beautiful outside, but on the inside she struggles everyday. It’s been 1.5 years of not being able to get out of bed, suffering short term memory loss, missing out on big & small events, extreme fatigue, and feeling horribly sick everyday and that’s not even all of it. I don’t know what it feels like, but watching my mom go through it gives me a good guess, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. My mom is lucky enough to have the support of her family & doctors, but not everyone has that. I want to fundraise to help find cures, spread awareness, and help people get diagnosed and be taken seriously. I also want to fundraise to show more support for my mom because I know this has been a very tough & lonely journey for her. She goes above & beyond as a mom & gramma & deserves to get better. I’m excited to see her go into remission (hopefully soon!) so she can have more fun with my kids, more outings, more parties, more vacations, more life to experience!!! Most people don’t understand how debilitating Lyme is and I think it’s important to get the word out & get people the treatments they need.
