DESCRIPTION:From the League of Women Voters of the Bay Area: \n\nDeath vs. Dollars: How Can We Deal with Chronic Disease – Like Long COVID\, Lyme & Tick-Borne Diseases? \nFeb. 12\, noon Pacific Time\, via ZOOM. Registration required. \nOur speakers\nWendy Adams is an advocate for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. In 2012\, she helped establish the Bay Area Lyme Foundation\, a patient-driven\, research-focused organization that aims to make Lyme disease easy to diagnose and simple to cure. \nShe has spent 20 years in the biotechnology industry\, directing business strategy and corporate development for companies working in infectious disease\, cancer\, and autoimmunity. \nSince 2020\, Wendy has served as a consumer programmatic reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs Tick-Borne Disease Research Program (TBDRP). \nWendy is joined by Dr. Carla Kuon and Dr. Alison Cohen from University of California\, San Francisco\, who have both worked on long Covid. \nDr. Kuon is an integrative medicine faculty member at UCSF with over 20 years in the field and is the author of “The Long Covid Solution.” She is the director of the Long Covid Optimal-IH clinic at UCSF\, bringing her considerable experience in helping patients. \nDr. Cohen is an epidemiologist who does community-driven\, policy-relevant applied epidemiology and public health research to study social and environmental determinants of health inequities. She is also affiliated faculty with the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and is a member of the Patient-Led Research Collaborative which seeks to facilitate patient-led and patient-involved research into long COVID. \nOur speakers will explore causes\, diagnostics\, therapeutics and related issues\, and respond to questions.We are excited to provide this very important health information – register here today! \n\n
