May 3\, 7 pm Eastern Time. \nRegister here: stlyme.org/2022webinar \nThis event will feature three presentations: \nDr. Brian Fallon and Dr. Shannon Delaney present: \n“Introducing Columbia University’s New Lyme Disease Clinic: The Cohen Center for Health and Recovery from Lyme and Tick-borne Diseases.” \nMr. Ross Douthat presents: \n“From the Dreamhouse to the Nightmare: My Lyme Disease Experience” \nMichel Shamoon Pour\, Ph.D. presents: \n“The Nature of Ticks in the Southern Tier: What We Now Know\, and What the Future Could Bring” \nMEET YOUR SPEAKERS: \nBrian Fallon\, M.D. \nPsychiatrist \nColumbia University Irving Medical Center \nDr. Fallon is the Director of the Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Research Center at Columbia University.  In addition\, he is the director of the university’s Center for Neuroinflammatory Disorders and Behavioral Medicine. \nDr. Fallon is recognized internationally for his research on neurologic and neuropsychiatric Lyme disease.  He has served on expert panels for the National Institutes of Health in different areas\, including neurologic and chronic Lyme disease\, and has received over $15 million in both private and governmental grants to continue his research. \nA graduate of Harvard College\, Dr. Fallon obtained his M.D. degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons\, as well as a master’s degree in public health epidemiology from Columbia University. \nHe did his medical Internship at Columbia University Medical Center and research training and an NIH fellowship in biological psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. \nShannon Delaney\, M.D. \nNeuropsychiatrist \nColumbia University Irving Medical Center \nShannon Delaney\, M.D.\, is the medical director of the Cohen Center for Health and Recovery from Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases.  She is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). \nDr. Delaney is a board-certified child\, adolescent\, and adult psychiatrist who specializes in seeing children and adults with complex neuropsychiatric presentations\, after suspected Lyme disease or other Tickborne Diseases\, as well as PANS/PANDAS patients. She leads a research study on PANS & Lyme disease and discovered a high rate of Borrelia miyamotoi antibodies in patients seeking a second opinion for suspected Lyme disease. \nDr. Delaney earned her MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her residency training in adult psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. After completing a 3-year NIH-sponsored research fellowship studying immune and infectious biomarkers of psychosis\, Dr. Delaney joined the faculty at CUIMC in 2017. \nRoss Douthat \nColumnist \nNew York Times \nRoss Douthat has experienced chronic Lyme disease symptoms for the past seven years.  His book\, The Deep Places\, a Memoir of Illness and Discovery describes the journey he has undertaken to battle the illness.  Mr. Douthat has been an opinion columnist for the New York Times since 2009.  Previously\, he was a senior editor at the Atlantic. \nMichel Shamoon Pour\, Ph.D. \nAssistant Professor \nBinghamton University \nMichel Shamoon-Pour is a molecular anthropologist specializing in human population genetics and the genetics of tick-borne diseases. He is currently a Research Assistant Professor with Binghamton University’s First-year Research Immersion program and a member of Binghamton University’s Tick-Borne Disease Center. His research primarily focuses on the genetic histories of the Middle East and Caucasus populations. A microbiologist by training\, \nDr. Shamoon-Pour’s tick-borne-disease research focuses on the diagnostics of Lyme disease\, the genetics of Borrelia burgdorferi virulence factors\, as well as the population genetics of blacklegged ticks in the Upper Susquehanna River Basin. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
